Careers: Software Developer

VFM Leonardo, the leading provider of Rich Media Production and Distribution for the Hospitality Industry requires a skilled Software Developer to join its technology department.  As a member of the application and web services team reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for the design, creation and maintenance of applications for rich media management and distribution.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Design and implement backend applications using Java (J2EE), PHP and SQL for large scale, redundant, high availability web based services.
  • Maintain existing software base, including debugging issues and fixing bugs.
  • Monitor, administer and optimize applications running on Linux.

 
Requirements:
 

  • 2-3 Years experience in a professional environment in a company of at least 15 people on large scale, high availability web based systems
  • Excellent communication skills comfortable interfacing with project managers and colleagues in other departments
  • Must be a highly motivated self starter comfortable working in a fast paced environment and must have excellent time management skills
  • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline.

 
Must Have:
 

  • Java (J2EE) - Experience building Java based client server systems.
  • Intermediate MySQL Knowledge.
  • Linux – Must include experience configuring, monitoring, and debugging applications running on Linux based systems.

 
Moderate Level of Experience:

  • JBOSS, Tomcat, Jetty or other Java platforms
  • Linux Shell scripting
  • Application Frameworks
  • XML/XSLT/XSD /WSDL
  • QA/Test scripting and deployment scripting
  • Web Services - Experience building web services (XMLRPC/SOAP) using various scripting technologies.

 
Additional, Nice to Have Experience:
 

  • Hibernate, iBATIS
  • PHP , Perl
